Brantford Red Sox Eliminated From Postseason Contention
BRANTFORD - With today’s loss to the Guelph Royals, the Brantford Red Sox will finish the IBL regular season in 9th place and will not qualify for the playoffs.
The Brantford Red Sox (11-30) sealed their fate by dropping 8 of their last 10 games, including a pair of losses each to the 7th place Toronto Maple Leafs and 8th place Kitchener Panthers. The Red Sox become the first IBL team to fail to qualify for the postseason since 2010, when the expansion Ottawa Fat Cats finished in 9th place with a 11-25 record. Brantford has now finished in last place in 4 of the last 5 seasons, and have not fielded a team with a winning record since 2016.
The Brantford Red Sox wrap up their season Tuesday at Arnold Anderson Stadium when they host the Barrie Baycats at 8 pm. This is a makeup game for Friday night’s rainout.
