BRANTFORD, ON – The Brantford Red Sox, proud members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), are excited to announce the return of veteran first baseman and designated hitter Nick Burdett for the 2025 season.

A Brantford native, Burdett enters his 12th season in the IBL, all with the Red Sox. Over his career, he has posted a .262 batting average (325 hits in 1,242 at-bats), with 49 doubles, 4 triples, 27 home runs, and 196 RBIs. In 2024, he led the team in home runs (4) and RBIs (28) while appearing in 41 games and batting .232.

“It has been great to see Nick excited about the upcoming season,” said General Manager Jeff Lounsbury. “He remains a clutch hitter with power who strengthens our lineup. As a local player, his leadership and experience will be invaluable in helping the team navigate this new chapter.”

Burdett shares the enthusiasm for the season ahead:

“I’m thrilled to be back with the Red Sox for 2025! There’s a lot of excitement among the players and the community as we enter this new era under owner Terry Smith and GM Jeff Lounsbury. Growing up in Brantford, I watched this team’s success, and I was fortunate to be part of a championship here. I’d love to help bring the Red Sox back to those winning ways. Make sure to come out this summer and pack the stadium like we used to!”

Founded in 1911, the Brantford Red Sox have captured 15 IBL championships, cementing their legacy in the league. All home games for the 2025 season are FREE.
