Brantford Red Sox Sign C/3B Cassidy Watt

BRANTFORD, ON — The Brantford Red Sox, proud members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), are excited to announce the signing of catcher/third baseman Cassidy Watt from Coquitlam, BC.

Watt is currently in his senior season at Dakota State University, where he’s batting .314 (27-for-86) with 6 doubles4 home runs, and 24 RBIs. In 2023, he posted a .290 average (42-for-145) with 11 doubles3 home runs, and 23 RBIs. Defensively, Watt has maintained a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage during his time at Dakota State.

Before transferring to Dakota State, Watt served as the starting catcher at Colorado Northwestern Community College, where he was named to the All-Region Team in 2023.

“I truly look forward to watching Cassidy play. He’s a leader, he’s gritty, and he plays the game at 110% all the time,” said Red Sox General Manager Jeff Lounsbury. “He’s had four tremendous seasons at school, and we’re lucky to have him in Brantford. He’s going to be an instant fan favourite.”

“I’m beyond excited to join the Brantford Red Sox this season,” said Watt. “This is a great opportunity, and I can’t wait to help the team win in any way I can—while also bringing some energy to the fans. I’m counting down the days!”

The Brantford Red Sox, founded in 1911, have captured 15 Intercounty Baseball League championships. Admission to all 2025 home games is FREE.
