Bret is a 23 year old right-handed pitcher from Royersford, PA. He played for the NCAA Division 1 Stony Brook Seawolves for the past four seasons, most recently winning the Conference Championship with the Seawolves in 2019.

In 2016 Bret was named the America East Conference Rookie of the Year, was a member of the conference All-Rookie team, as well as being selected second team All-Conference. Over his NCAA career Bret logged 259 total innings pitched in 53 starts/56 total appearances, sporting a 4.55 ERA with 204 strikeouts.
"Throughout my life baseball has taken me all over the United States, and now I have the awesome opportunity to come play in Canada which i am extremely excited for" said Bret Clarke. "When [Red Sox Field Manager] Matt McGovern reached out asking if I wanted to come play in Brantford, I didn't have to think long about the decision. I love the game of baseball, and I knew right away that I am all about the culture that Matt wants to create."
Brantford Field Manager Matt McGovern noted "I'm excited to bring in Bret. He was a workhorse at school and I know that will transition well into the IBL. His character and skills are more than any coach could ask for, and we are very excited to have him in a Red Sox uniform. I'm looking forward to coaching him, and I'm sure he will be more than successful in this league".
Bret adds "I'm joining this team not just to win couple games, but to win a championship!"
