Brantford Red Sox Sign Infielder Luis Jean
BRANTFORD, ON – The Brantford Red Sox, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), are excited to announce the signing of infielder Luis Jean.
Originally from San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, Jean now resides in Hamilton, ON. He made his IBL debut with the Hamilton Cardinals in 2022, where he impressed by hitting .336 (37-for-110) with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run,9 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. He also had a strong postseason, batting .389 over 9 playoff games.
In 2023, Jean suited up for the Welland Jackfish, continuing his success at the plate with a .347 average (25-for-72), 6 doubles, 1 triple, 13 RBIs, and 7 stolen bases.
Before joining the IBL, Jean spent six seasons in the Colorado Rockies organization, appearing in 378 games and reaching the Double-A level in 2017. A versatile defender, he has experience at eight different positions, with his strongest play coming in the infield.
“Luis can play eight positions, but he’s at his best in the infield,” said Red Sox General Manager Jeff Lounsbury. “He has the ability to hit for both average and power. He has all the tools to be a great player in the IBL. What he did in the 2022 playoffs was remarkable, and we’re excited to see that level of play in Brantford this summer.”
The Brantford Red Sox were founded in 1911 and have captured 15 Intercounty Baseball League championships. Admission to all 2025 Red Sox home games is FREE.
