Brantford Red Sox Sign Liam Sutherland

The Brantford Red Sox, members of the Intercounty Baseball League, are proud to announce the signing of Liam Sutherland.

Sutherland is a 23 year old outfielder from Mississauga, Ontario.  A graduate of Humber College, Liam hit for a career .389 average/.477 on base percentage/.502 slugging percentage over 4 seasons with the Humber Hawks.  In 2018 and 2019 he won the OCAA Championship with Humber.  In 2017 Sutherland was named OCAA Player of the Year, and a league All-Star.  In 2018 Liam was named a league All-Star, and in 2019 he was named both a league and championship series All-Star.  Liam also played with the Etobicoke Rangers elite baseball program where he posted a .345/.451/.482 slash line in 2019.

"Adding Liam to the organization was a no brainer for us", says Red Sox Field Manager Matt McGovern. "He has been extremely successful at every level he has played, and I'm sure this opportunity will be no different.  He leaves it all out on the field, I'm looking forward to seeing him contribute and can't wait to coach him"

"I am really excited to play in the IBL for Brantford", says Sutherland. "This is something I have worked towards, and this is the perfect time to go for it and continue to play the game I love at a really competitive level"

McGovern adds "The Red Sox are a better team today with the addition of Liam. It's going to be an exciting year for the Brantford Red Sox and our fans!"
