Brantford Red Sox Well Represented at 2026 CBL All-Star Weekend

The Brantford Red Sox made their presence felt during the 2026 Canadian Baseball League All-Star Weekend, with five players and owner Terry Smith representing the organization in the league's annual showcase.

Andrew Savage, Chris Ortega, Nick Iannantone, Jorge De La Cruz, and Tim Holyk all earned All-Star recognition following outstanding first-half performances, while Smith served as a coach for the South All-Stars.

The festivities began with the Home Run Derby, where Chris Ortega represented the Red Sox among the league's top power hitters. After a tremendous first half that saw him become one of the CBL's most dangerous bats, Ortega showcased his power on the All-Star stage before taking his place in the South All-Star lineup the following day.

In the All-Star Game, Ortega started as the designated hitter and finished 1-for-3, recording one of the South's seven hits.

Andrew Savage earned the starting nod behind the plate after an exceptional first half of the season. The catcher reached base with a walk while once again demonstrating the leadership and defensive presence that helped earn him a starting All-Star selection.

Nick Iannantone entered the game as a substitute in left field, giving the Red Sox three position players in the contest. His selection capped off a strong first half in which he has been a reliable contributor both offensively and defensively.

On the mound, Jorge De La Cruz continued the success he's enjoyed throughout the season. The right-hander tossed a scoreless inning of relief, allowing no hits or runs while striking out one batter. His performance highlighted why he has become one of Brantford's most dependable bullpen arms.

Although he was unable to play because of an injury, Tim Holyk was still recognized as an All-Star after earning a reserve selection. Holyk spent the game supporting his teammates, a well-deserved honour following an outstanding first half in which he established himself as one of the league's top infielders.

The Red Sox organization was also represented in the dugout, with owner Terry Smith serving on the South All-Star coaching staff. Smith had the opportunity to help lead some of the league's top talent during the showcase, adding another point of pride for the Brantford organization.

While the South All-Stars came up short in the final score, the weekend was a tremendous celebration of the league's top players and another milestone for the Red Sox. Having five players selected and a member of the organization's leadership coaching in the game is a reflection of the progress Brantford has made throughout the 2026 season.
