Four Brantford Red Sox Selected for 2026 CBL All-Star Game

The Brantford Red Sox will be well represented at the 2026 Canadian Baseball League All-Star Game, with four players earning selection following outstanding first-half performances.

Andrew Savage has been named the starting catcher, while Chris Ortega will start as the designated hitter. In addition, Tim Holyk has been selected as an infield reserve, and Jorge De La Cruz will represent the Red Sox as a pitching reserve.

The four selections are a testament to the talent and hard work displayed by the Red Sox throughout the first half of the season and reflect the impact each player has had on the club's success.

Andrew Savage Earns Starting Catcher Nod

Few players have been as productive offensively as Andrew Savage this season.

Through 17 games, the Red Sox catcher owns an incredible .412 batting average, collecting 21 hits, 11 runs scored, 4 home runs, and 14 RBIs. His .524 on-base percentage, .706 slugging percentage, and 1.230 OPS rank among the league's elite, making him one of the most dangerous hitters in the CBL.

Behind the plate, Savage has provided steady leadership for Brantford's pitching staff while continuing to deliver in clutch situations offensively. His combination of defensive reliability and offensive production made him a deserving choice to start behind the plate in this year's All-Star Game.

Chris Ortega Named Starting Designated Hitter

Joining Savage in the All-Star starting lineup is designated hitter Chris Ortega.

Ortega has been one of the Red Sox's biggest offensive weapons throughout the 2026 campaign. In 18 games, the Miami, Florida native has hit .316 with 24 hits, 10 runs scored, 6 home runs, and 17 RBIs, while posting a .971 OPS.

Known for his ability to drive in runs and change a game with one swing, Ortega has consistently produced in the middle of Brantford's lineup. His recent recognition as the CBL Player of the Week only further highlighted the impact he has had during an outstanding first half of the season.

Tim Holyk Selected as Infield Reserve

Tim Holyk has quietly put together an excellent season and has earned his place among the league's best as an All-Star reserve.

The versatile infielder enters the break batting .338 with 22 hits, 11 runs, 5 doubles, 2 home runs, and 12 RBIs while posting a .905 OPS.

Holyk has been a consistent contributor from the top of the lineup, combining timely hitting with dependable defense and providing the Red Sox with quality at-bats every night. His ability to contribute in every facet of the game has made him an invaluable member of the Brantford infield.

Jorge De La Cruz Represents the Bullpen

Out of the bullpen, Jorge De La Cruz has been one of the Red Sox's most dependable arms.

In seven appearances this season, De La Cruz has recorded a stellar 1.93 ERA, collecting two saves while striking out 15 batters in just 9.1 innings. His ability to finish games and limit opposing offenses has made him a key piece of Brantford's pitching staff.

Whether protecting a late lead or pitching in high-pressure situations, De La Cruz has consistently delivered, making his All-Star selection well deserved.

A Well-Deserved Honour

Having four players selected to the 2026 CBL All-Star Game is a tremendous accomplishment for the Brantford Red Sox organization and a reflection of the team's talent throughout the first half of the season.

From Savage's dominance behind the plate, Ortega's middle-of-the-order power, Holyk's all-around consistency, and De La Cruz's lights-out work on the mound, each player has played an important role in the Red Sox's success.

Congratulations to Andrew Savage, Chris Ortega, Tim Holyk, and Jorge De La Cruz on earning 2026 CBL All-Star honours. The entire Red Sox organization and community are proud to see these four players represent Brantford on the league's biggest stage.
