Red Sox vs. Baycats Playoff Preview

By virtue of winning their one game tiebreaker game with the Kitchener Panthers, the Barrie Baycats clinched first place overall in the 2019 Intercounty Baseball League standings and a first round matchup with the Brantford Red Sox. 

Brantford and Barrie last met in the postseason in the 2017 IBL semifinals.

Barrie won the 2019 regular season series vs. Brantford 4 games to 1:

Keys to the series - The Red Sox needs to score early and often.  Despite Brantford's overall 5-31 regular season record, the Sox had a .500 record in games when scoring 5 or more runs.  To give themselves a fighting chance Brantford's bats have to go to work against Barrie's pitching, which finished the regular season with a 4.42 team ERA.   Brantford's pitching will have to be sharp to defend against Barrie's bats, which sat near the top of the league with a team .306 batting average.
