Postseason Scenarios

With 1 game remaining for the Brantford Red Sox in their 2021 Intercounty Baseball League regular season schedule, postseason scenarios are starting to take shape.

What is known:

  • Brantford will finish in either 6th or 7th place in the IBL regular season standings 
  • Brantford is currently tied with the Hamilton Cardinals for 6th place in the IBL standings. If both teams remain tied after the regular season, Brantford holds the tiebreaker by virtue of their 4-1 regular season record over Hamilton
  • Brantford will not have home field advantage in the first round of the IBL playoffs. With the first round being a best of 3 format Brantford will host game 2 of their series

Final Standings Scenarios:

  • If Brantford wins their final game (Sunday vs. Toronto), the Red Sox finish in 6th place 
  • If Hamilton loses their final game (Sunday vs. Welland), the Red Sox finish in 6th place
  • If both Brantford and Hamilton win their final games, the Red Sox finish in 6th place
  • If both Brantford and Hamilton lose their final games, the Red Sox finish in 6th place
  • If Brantford loses their final game and Hamilton wins their final game, the Red Sox finish in 7th place

To Be Determined:

  • 2nd and 3rd place in the IBL standings. Kitchener, Toronto, and Welland are all still in the running to finish in either 2nd or 3rd place
  • Postseason schedule - game dates and times will be announced once the regular season is complete and the postseason seedings are known
