Red Sox Doubled Up By Panthers

by B. Young

Hot off their first win of the season, the Brantford Red Sox headed up to Kitchener on Tuesday night to take on the Panthers.

Brantford got off to a good start, with a Gianfranco Morello leadoff single and stolen base leading to a run. But Kitchener quickly responded with a 2 run blast in the bottom of the inning to lead 2-1 after the 1st.

Brantford answered back in the 2nd with Spencer Voisin driving in Jacob Reid to even things up 2-2. After a scoreless 3rd, the Red Sox stranded 2 runners in the 4th inning and Kitchener broke things open with 3 runs to lead 5-2.

Brantford responded again in the 5th with Robbie Gauthier driving in Nick Burdett. The Panthers clawed back though, plating another 3 runs to take a 8-3 lead after 5 innings.

A sacrifice fly brought home Liam Sutherland in the 6th to narrow the gap to 8-4. That would be it for the Brantford bats however, and the Kitchener Panthers held on for the 8-4 victory.

The Brantford Red Sox are back in action at home this Friday hosting the Hamilton Cardinals, game time is 8 pm at Arnold Anderson Stadium.  Tickets are available now at brantfordredsox.com/tickets
