Red Sox Receive the Arthur Binkley Award

Brantford Red Sox honoured with Arthur Binkley Award for outstanding community service Child and Family Services of Grand Erie Foundation recognizes historic baseball club for its commitment to children, families and the community. BRANTFORD, Ont. — November 5, 2026 — The Brantford Red Sox Professional Baseball Club has been honoured with the prestigious Arthur Binkley Award, presented by the Child and Family Services of Grand Erie Foundation in recognition of its outstanding community service and commitment to supporting children and families throughout the region. The award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated exceptional service and made meaningful contributions toward advancing the Foundation’s mission. Tim Prashad, chief operating officer, and Steve Jones, business manager of the Brantford Red Sox, accepted the award on behalf of the organization during the Foundation’s annual general meeting on November 4. For Red Sox owner Terry Smith, the recognition reflects the organization’s belief that baseball can make a lasting difference well beyond the playing field. “We are tremendously honoured to receive the Arthur Binkley Award,” said Smith. “Everything we do with the Brantford Red Sox is designed to provide as much benefit to our communities, children, and families as possible. With our focus always being on lifting up every child, increasing their self-confidence, and getting them to believe in themselves as we also celebrate their families.” Smith was equally enthusiastic in recognizing the Foundation and its dedicated team. “We are so grateful and blessed that we are able to have a fantastic partnership with such an incredible organization as the Child and Family Services of Grand Erie Foundation. They are the true heroes, and we are honoured to be able to work with such amazing and wonderful people.” Established in 1911, the Brantford Red Sox have been part of the city’s sporting heritage for more than a century. Beyond their accomplishments on the field, the organization continues to emphasize youth development, community engagement and partnerships that create opportunities for local children and families. The recognition comes as Brantford prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2027, a milestone that will also mark 116 years of Red Sox baseball in the city. As the club looks toward this historic celebration, the Arthur Binkley Award serves as a meaningful reminder of the important role community sports organizations can play in bringing people together and making a positive difference. For the Brantford Red Sox, the honour represents more than an organizational achievement. It reflects a long-standing commitment to the community that has supported the club for generations — and a belief that some of baseball’s greatest victories happen away from the diamond.
