Red Sox Ride Historic Six-Game Winning Streak, First in More Than a Decade
The Brantford Red Sox put together a stretch to remember, rattling off six consecutive victories from August 16 through August 23 to record the club's first six-game winning streak in more than 10 years.
And there was no single formula behind the run.
Across six games, Brantford won with explosive offense, dominant starting pitching, late-game relief and plenty of resilience. The Red Sox scored an incredible 72 runs over the six-game stretch, including two games with 17 or more runs, while receiving standout performances from throughout the roster.
From a 17-run outburst to start the streak to a strong pitching performance to secure win number six, the Red Sox found a different way to get the job done every night.
Win #1: Offense Erupts Against Toronto
The streak began on August 16, when Brantford's offense exploded in a 17-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at home.
The Red Sox pounded out 20 hits, with production coming from virtually every spot in the lineup.
Christian Ortega went 3-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs, Andrew Savage collected two hits and drove in four, and Tim Holyk finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Christian Kuzemka added three hits and three RBIs, while Walker Hultgren reached base five times with three hits and two walks.
On the mound, Connor Irvine gave the offense plenty of room to work, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five.
It was the perfect start to what would become a historic run.
Win #2: Porcellato Shuts Down Hamilton
One night later, the Red Sox showed they could dominate in a completely different way.
Anthony Porcellato delivered one of Brantford's best pitching performances of the season in a 7-1 victory over the Hamilton Cardinals.
Porcellato worked eight innings, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out six. After Hamilton scored in the opening inning, he shut the Cardinals down the rest of the way before returning to begin the ninth.
The offense backed him up with 10 hits, led by two-hit performances from Brody Black, Chris Ortega, Tim Holyk and Christian Kuzemka. Black scored three times, while Jakob Cantor drove in three runs and Ortega added two RBIs.
Cantor, Black and Ortega also supplied the power with home runs as Brantford moved to two straight wins.
Win #3: An Offensive Classic in Toronto
After a day off, the Red Sox returned on August 19 and produced one of the wildest offensive games of the season.
Brantford collected 19 hits and scored 22 runs in a high-scoring victory over Toronto.
The biggest performance came from Christian Kuzemka, who had a night to remember. Kuzemka went an incredible 5-for-6 with three runs scored and nine RBIs, putting together one of the most productive individual offensive performances of the Red Sox season.
He wasn't alone.
Andrew Savage went 5-for-5, scoring four times and driving in six, while Jakob Cantor scored four runs and Brody Black crossed the plate four times. Ortega added two hits, two runs and an RBI as the Red Sox lineup continued to produce from top to bottom.
Even after Toronto mounted plenty of offense of its own, Brantford kept answering, showing the resilience that became a defining feature of the streak.
Win #4: Pitching Takes Over Against Toronto
Two days later, Brantford met Toronto again, but this time the game looked completely different.
The Red Sox earned a 5-2 victory behind an excellent performance from Leandro Mejia.
Mejia gave Brantford six strong innings, allowing just four hits and two earned runs while striking out four. Jose Arias then took over for the final three innings and didn't allow a run, giving up only two hits while recording two strikeouts to earn the save.
Offensively, Christian Kuzemka and Francisco Martinez each collected two hits and drove in two runs, while Tim Holyk added another RBI.
After scoring 22 runs in their previous game, the ability to turn around and win a lower-scoring contest showed another side of the Red Sox during the streak.
Four straight.
Win #5: Big Bats Travel to Barrie
The Red Sox took the streak on the road on August 22 and kept rolling with a 12-7 victory over the Barrie Baycats.
Brantford finished with 13 hits and nine walks, with several players putting together big nights.
Tim Holyk went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, while Christian Kuzemka continued his incredible stretch by going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs.
Jakob Cantor added two hits and scored twice, AJ Karosas collected two hits and scored three runs, and Walker Hultgren went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Porcellato earned the win before the bullpen took over, and Haldon Craig recorded the final seven outs to earn the save, allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Five straight wins meant the Red Sox were one victory away from doing something the organization hadn't accomplished in more than a decade.
Win #6: Irvine's 10 Strikeouts Seal the Streak
On August 23, Brantford completed the historic run with a 9-5 victory.
Once again, the Red Sox received contributions throughout the lineup.
Brody Black collected two hits and drove in a run, while Christian Kuzemka continued his outstanding stretch with two more hits and three RBIs. Tim Holyk added two hits and an RBI, Cassidy Watt drove in a run, and Walker Hultgren added another RBI.
But one of the biggest stories of the afternoon came on the mound.
Connor Irvine struck out 10 batters over seven innings, allowing three earned runs and giving Brantford another strong starting performance when it mattered most.
After the opposition threatened late, Noah Law came in and delivered 1.1 scoreless innings without allowing a hit, earning the win and helping put the finishing touches on victory number six.
And with the final out, the streak officially belonged in the Red Sox history books.
A Total Team Effort
The numbers across the six-game run tell the story of just how impressive the stretch was.
Brantford scored 72 runs, averaging 12 runs per game, while producing huge individual performances up and down the lineup.
Kuzemka was particularly dangerous throughout the streak, highlighted by his nine-RBI performance against Toronto and another four-RBI night in Barrie. Holyk, Savage, Ortega, Black and Cantor all delivered multi-hit and multi-RBI performances along the way.
On the mound, Irvine provided two strong starts, including his 10-strikeout performance to close the streak. Porcellato delivered his eight-inning gem against Hamilton, Mejia and Arias combined to hold Toronto to two runs, and several bullpen arms stepped up in key situations.
It wasn't one player carrying the Red Sox.
It was an entire roster finding ways to win.
More Than 10 Years in the Making
Six consecutive wins is an accomplishment on its own.
For this Red Sox team, it meant even more.
The run marked Brantford's first six-game winning streak in more than a decade, creating another memorable milestone in the 2026 season.
From scoring 17 runs in the opening victory to grinding through a 5-2 game, surviving an offensive shootout, winning on the road and finishing the stretch behind a 10-strikeout performance, the six games showcased nearly every part of what this team is capable of.
Six games. Six wins. More than a decade of waiting.
For the Brantford Red Sox, it was a streak worth remembering.
