The Hamilton Cardinals returned to Brantford Friday evening, looking to even up their 2021 IBL season series after losing 7-5 to the Red Sox this past Sunday.

The matchup of starters Kyle Lev for Brantford and Chris Lazar for Hamilton promised a pitchers duel, and it delivered. Both teams played shutout baseball through 6 innings, until the Hamilton Cardinals bats finally got to the Red Sox bullpen in the 7th inning.  Hamilton would go on to a 3-0 victory over Brantford, evening the season series at one game apiece.

Lev struck out 9 batters over 5 innings of work, while surrendering 0 runs and 6 hits. Gianfranco Morello, Colton Fountain, and Matt Pilarczyk each contributed a pair of hits for Brantford. The Red Sox left 9 runners on base, most notably stranding the bases loaded in both the 5th and 7th innings.

The Red Sox are on the road for a few games now: Barrie on Saturday the 24th [update: rained out], Hamilton on Tuesday the 27th, and Welland on Thursday the 29th.  Brantford finally returns home to host the Kitchener Panthers on Friday July 30th, game time is 8 pm at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
