Sox Pull 2nd Half Disappearing Act

by B. Young

BRANTFORD - For the second night in a row, the Brantford Red Sox got off to a good start, only to watch the game run away from them in the 5th inning.

Leading 3-2 after 4 innings, Brantford would surrender the tying run to the visiting Barrie Baycats in the 5th, and then sat idly by and watched the visitors pile another dozen runs up on the scoreboard. The Red Sox sparked a flicker of a rally in the 8th inning scoring 3, but it was far too little too late. Final score was Brantford 5 Barrie 15

FOR BRANTFORD: Liam Sutherland and Spencer Jamieson each had 3 hits. Lucas Bateman also contributed a pair of hits.

NEXT UP: The Red Sox thankfully get the weekend off, before heading to London to face the Majors on Monday night. Brantford stays on the road for games in Welland on Thursday and Hamilton on Friday, before finally returning home on Sunday August 7 hosting the Guelph Royals at a 2 pm start time. This is Brantford's last home day game of the season. Advance tickets available at brantfordredsox.com/tickets
