Semifinals Preview

Clinching the #6 seed on the last day of the regular season, not many observers around the Intercounty Baseball League expected postseason success from the Brantford Red Sox. But Brantford fans knew that the team was much better than the Sox's regular season record indicated. The Red Sox then proved that the postseason is a whole new ballgame in the opening round, defeating the Kitchener Panthers 2 games to 0 to advance to the semifinals.

That regular season record becomes a factor again in the semifinals, as Brantford now must face the #1 seed London Majors. London is well rested, having had a first round bye. But Brantford has momentum, and with the semifinals being another best of 3 elimination anything can happen.

London ranked 2nd in the league during the regular season for both hits and runs scored, and last in walks. This is a Majors team that likes to hit, and Brantford's pitching and defence will have to be sharp. London also ranked first in virtually every pitching stat (ERA, runs and hits allowed), so Brantford will need to work hard to make the most of their at bats and manufacture runs.

Game 1 - Friday September 17 at Labatt Park in London, 7:35 pm

Game 2 - Saturday September 18 at Arnold Anderson Stadium in Brantford, 7:30 pm

Game 3 (if necessary) - Sunday September 19 at Labatt Park in London, 7:35pm
