Red Sox Rained Out In Barrie

by B. Young

BARRIE - For the third time this season, the Brantford Red Sox travelled to the visitor's park only to have the game cancelled due to rain at game time.

Sunday night's rainout in Barrie, in what should have been Brantford's 42nd and final game of the 2022 IBL regular season, will not be made up (as the end result would not impact either team's place in the final standings, or playoff position).

Due to their 8th place finish, Brantford awaits a matchup in the first round of the playoffs with the IBL's 1st place team. That team is still to be determined, however, as currently both Guelph and Welland are tied for 1st with matching 31-11 records. The London Majors, currently 30-11, were also rained out on Sunday and will make up their game on Monday night in Toronto as they too could join the tie atop the standings with a win.

Once the tiebreaker has occurred to determine the sole holder of 1st place, Brantford's postseason schedule will be announced. Stay tuned to brantfordredsox.com and the team's social media channels for details in the upcoming days.

Established in 1911, the Brantford Red Sox have been an institution in the Southwestern Ontario community for over a century. The Brantford Red Sox are the most historically decorated active team in the Intercounty Baseball League, appearing in 27 finals and winning 15 IBL championships.
