Red Sox Close Out Regular Season with Sixth Straight Home Victory

The Brantford Red Sox capped off their 2025 regular season in style, securing back-to-back wins over the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hamilton Cardinals this past weekend to extend their home winning streak to six games. The victories also cemented an undefeated month of August at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

Since Terry Smith took over as manager, the Red Sox have yet to lose a home game—a stretch that has energized the club and its fans. According to team historians, the six straight home wins mark the franchise’s longest such streak since 2004. With one more win at home to open the 2026 season, Brantford will tie the 2004 club for most consecutive home victories in more than two decades.

Friday Night: Red Sox Top Toronto, 7–3

On Friday, the Red Sox rode a balanced offensive effort and strong pitching to a 7–3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Brantford broke the game open in the middle innings, plating three runs in the fourth and adding another three in the eighth. Jakob Cantor reached base three times and scored twice, while Lucas Bateman drove in a run and Lucas Lefebvre added a key RBI single as part of the late surge.

On the mound, Connor Irvine earned the win, striking out two over five innings, while Nathan Arbach came on in relief and shut the door with four scoreless innings to collect the save.

Sunday Thriller: Walk-Off in Extras

The season finale on Sunday delivered plenty of drama, as the Red Sox edged the Hamilton Cardinals 6–5 in extra innings.

After falling behind early, Brantford clawed back with a three-run sixth inning, highlighted by Jakob Cantor’s clutch two-run double. Lefebvre added two RBIs of his own to keep the Sox in striking distance.

The game stretched into extras tied at 5–5, but Brantford once again delivered at home. Cantor, who finished with three hits and three RBIs, capped his outstanding day by driving in the winning run in the bottom of the tenth to send the Sox home with their sixth straight home win.

On the mound, Luis Mejia struck out eight over five innings, while Jorge De la Cruz shut down Hamilton over the final four innings to earn the win.

Looking Ahead

While the Red Sox narrowly missed out on a playoff spot this season, the club heads into 2026 with plenty of momentum and confidence. Under Manager Terry Smith’s leadership, Brantford has gone undefeated at home since he took over and closed the year on a six-game home winning streak—the team’s longest since 2004.

With a strong finish, renewed energy, and a clear identity forming, the Red Sox will look to build on this foundation and carry their late-season success into the 2026 campaign.
