2022 Season Preview

Brantford Red Sox baseball returns this week!  Here are some notes for the upcoming season:

Our regular season starts on Thursday in Welland. The next night - Friday May 20 at 8 pm - the Brantford Red Sox host the Hamilton Cardinals in our 2022 home opener! 

Brantford Red Sox legend and IBL 100 member Ted Baker will be joining us for the opening night festivities!  Season passes are available for purchase at Brant Sports Excellence at 415 Fairview Drive in Brantford. Season passes, flex packs, and single game tickets are also available online.

New for 2022 each IBL team will play an expanded 42-game schedule (up from the league's traditional 36), with 21 games at home and 21 on the road. The 2022 schedule is balanced, with each team playing the others 6 times in total (3 at home, 3 on the road). And the league welcomes back the Guelph Royals, who return to the IBL after pausing operations last year. Check out our full schedule on our schedule page. 

Brantford's last home game in the regular season is August 19 hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs. And we wrap up the regular season in Barrie on August 21.

Last season the Brantford Red Sox reached the IBL semifinals last season for the first time since 2017.

Making his notable return is Graham Tebbit. This will be Graham's 8th IBL season, having previously played with Brantford in our 2011-2012 championship seasons, as well as from 2014-2018. Graham enters the 2022 season with 65 career pitching appearances (includes 33 starts), 225.2 innings pitched, and 163 strikeouts.

Nick Burdett also returns for his 9th consecutive season. Nick is on pace for some career milestones this upcoming year, entering the 2022 season with 266 career games played, 960 career at bats, and 269 hits.
